Duane Allman was born Howard Duane Allman on November 20th, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee. He died on October 29, 1971 at only 27 years old. He is best remembered for his southern rock band The Allman Brothers.
Duane Allman was incredible at playing slide guitar, and his improvisation skills were as equally impressive.
In 2003 Rolling Stone ranked Duane Allman as the 2nd Greatest Guitarist Of All Time. This made him 2nd only to Jimi Hendrix. Guitar Player magazine claimed his guitar tone was one of the greatest of all time. He got his tone from playing his Gibson Les Paul through a 50-Watt Marshall Amp.
